September was a great month for broadband! As RURALBAND celebrated a successful year in reaching its 5,000th service installation milestone in September, the co-op’s President & CEO Sarat Yellepeddi also joined many industry professionals and legislators from Virginia, Maryland and neighboring states gathered at the fourth annual Rural Fiber Expo.
The event was held in Annapolis, MD and was hosted by the Virginia, Maryland and Delaware Association of Broadband Cooperatives (VMDABC). The expo previewed the path forward for rural broadband connectivity efforts throughout the region. Amongst those who gathered were RURALBAND staff.
Yellepeddi was amongst those leaders who gathered on a panel to discuss the current state of rural America's broadband efforts.
“While we take a moment to pause and celebrate RURALBAND’s great achievement, we continue to spread awareness to the thousands of members who have not taken advantage of this great service yet,” Yellepeddi says. “If you’re not sure how RURALBAND can benefit you directly, think about how it can benefit your children and grandchildren in this day and time.
PGEC’s wholly owned fiber subsidiary, RURALBAND, provides high-speed internet services available to more than 10,000 residents in the co-op’s service territory. As RURALBAND continues to break ground in new areas, residents are encouraged to register by visiting RURALBAND.coop.
