RURALBAND crews continue to move the needle on the distribution construction in Sussex County. RURALBAND has opened a new zone for the following additional areas: Comans Well Road, Loco School Road, Winfield Road, Briggs Road, Bell Road, Kientz Road, Harmony Road, Hilda Road, Blue Star Highway, Andrews Road, Jarratt Ave, Braxton Ave, Mayes Street, North and South Halifax Road. Members are encouraged to complete an application to start their installation process.

Affordable Connectivity Program funding set to wind down

In 2021, Congress established the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and appropriated $14.2 billion for the program. Without additional funding from Congress, the allotted money for the program is projected to run out in April 2024 (this date is an estimate and may change). As a result, the FCC has begun taking steps to wind down the Affordable Connectivity Program.

Branded as RURALBAND, the cooperative’s broadband initiative offers a variety of high-speed internet options to best serve the needs and budgets of residents. Its guiding mission is to “provide a reliable and best in class fiber internet option for its members to improve the overall quality of life for its members”.
